EmComm Activities

Besides the occasional contest, have been also been busy working on several Emergency Communications projects. I guess that's been taking a lot of my time, but do enjoy it, so it's not too bad! Will report on those as we get back into the swing of things here and try to keep things current.

November Sweepstakes, CW

Yeah ... it's been a while, and have missed posting several contest activities, so I guess I'll have to get back with the program.

Well, the November Sweepstakes were this past weekend. Had good intentions to get on and put in a decent effort ... but it was not to be. Had some TVI issues I was trying to solve at the last minute (thought I had fixed them already). With the TVI problems weighing on my mind, could never really get "into" the contest, and sort of lost focus. Took a break Saturday night and met up with a bunch of friends instead.

Got back on Sunday morning for a 7 1/2 hour stretch and snagged all but Alberta and Alaska for the "sweep". After a break to watch Football, got back on for a couple more hours, where I picked up two two guys in Alberta, and two in Alaska! I pretty much made my goal ... and after that, decided to go for 500 contacts ... and then hang it up for the weekend. All in all, not to bad ... 501 Q's, 80 sections, 80,160 points, 14 1/2 hours.

Only a couple problems with guys moving in on my frequency ... one even sent me a "QRL" after moving in on me (sorry dude, I've been here for an hour already!) ... but he eventually left to go bother someone else.
